Evidence based approaches

  • Understanding the connection between your thoughts, feelings and actions. Often our throughs are not an accurate reflection of who we are. In CBT you’ll learn to notice those thoughts, challenge them and replace them with healthier ones so that you can feel better and make choices that work for you.

  • DBT is about learning balance. It teaches skills to manage big emotions, handle stress without making things worse and build stronger relationships. It combines acceptance (“this is where I am right now”) with change (and here’s how I can grow”).

  • Work through difficult or traumatic experiences in a safe and supportive way. The goal is to help you understand how past trauma affects the way you think, feel and act now. It gives you the tools to feel more in control, less anxious and more confident.

  • Sees your life as a story and you are the author. Sometimes problems feel like they take over the whole story. In narrative therapy you separate the person from the problem. You will look at how the problem shows up in your life and then highlight your strengths, values and choices so that you can rewrite your story in a way that fits who you want to be.
