Hola Bienvenida!
Im Kenia Dominguez, LMFT
My path to becoming a mental health therapist comes from my own life experiences. As an immigrant from Mexico, I arrived in the U.S. at a young age. I quickly became my parents translator, having to learn to navigate a new education system, language, cultural norms and daily life adjustments.
As I grew up I worked tirelessly to put myself through college and graduate school while navigating the challenges of being the first in my family to seek higher education. No one to guide me through FAFSA, college applications nor educate me on student loans. These personal struggles shaped my deep understanding of resilience and compassion for others. I recognize the importance of finding a therapist that understands your journey, language, culture, el cucuy, la llorona and el doble sentido.
With my extended experience in a variety of health care settings, such as crisis support at a hospital in Northern California and my work as an outpatient therapist, I’ve supported individuals facing acculturation, depression, anxiety, trauma, abuse, and life transitions. Combining my personal journey with evidence-based practices like CBT, mindfulness, DBT and Narrative Therapy. I strive to truly connect with each client, seeing life through their perspective.
Together, we’ll build a path toward healing, empowerment and balance for your mente y alma.
